Do Not Disturb - Part 5 [The End]

Lucy takes off her shoes and walks in the sand. She’s wearing a short, strapless silk dress with deep purple and pink swatches set off by white accents. A hundred white folding chairs are arranged on the beach, flanking a long, narrow piece of white silk that’s been rolled out as an aisle. At the top is a wicker trellis braided with red roses, the ocean crashing in the background. A light breeze blows ribbons and skirts as guests take their seats for the wedding. The groom, Ben, and his groomsmen are greeting guests and handing out programs. He spots Lucy with a smile then freezes in mid-wave. Sidney laughs behind her.

“There goes our cover,” he says.

“Uh, hi Lucy,” he gives her a hug, still laughing awkwardly. “Hi guys, I’m Ben.”

“This is Jordan and Sidney, but I’m guessing you already know that.”

Ben still looks a little dumbstruck, but he rolls his eyes. “Upstaged at my own wedding!”

Jordan and Sidney jump in to apologize, promising to sit in the back and be quiet until Ben interrupts them. “Are you kidding? No way. This wedding is going down in history now.” He calls a couple of his groomsmen over, all of whom have the same shocked look on their faces. They shake hands with Jordan and Sidney. Jack, who Lucy has known forever, reaches out to hug her.

“Wait,” he stops, arms in mid-stretch. “Is one of these guys gonna kill me if I hug you?”

Jordan gives him a push in Lucy’s direction. “Just don’t get any ideas at the open bar.”

They sit in the second-to-last row, Lucy on the aisle next to Jordan, then Sidney. Kim won’t be seen till the bridal party makes their appearance. They do their best to ignore the handful of people who keep turning to look at the guys. It’s a warm evening, so all the men have their coats slung over the backs of chairs and Lucy thinks about how sexy Jordan will look later, his tie loosened and collar unbuttoned. She puts her hand on his leg, and is rewarded with a kiss on the lips. Sidney clears his throat loudly, then giggles.

“At least we’re not in a church,” he says.

Music starts and the bridesmaids make their way up the aisle. Kim is second in the procession, arm linked with Jack. Sidney whistles softly and her big smile says that she heard him. Sarah comes up last in her white dress, tears in her eyes. It makes Lucy tear up too, and her heart is jumping around inside her chest. Jordan leans down and kisses the top of her head. The ceremony is short, beautiful and at the end, the cheering crowd can be heard all the way down the beach. They file inside for cocktail hour in the beach-level bar.

“That was beautiful!” Lucy says as Kim comes in from taking a last few photos in her deep ocean-blue, knee length dress. Kim’s hair is pinned softly back and she is glowing. Sidney steals a kiss on her cheek.

“I have to be careful here, a lot of these guys know us,” he tells her quietly. “I promise to rip that dress off you the second we are alone.”

Kim winks. “I always knew you were a 2-night stand kind of guy.”

Waiters circulate with drinks and hors d’ourves as Lucy and Kim introduce the guys to a number of their friends. Almost all the male guests recognize them and a couple of the girls know Sidney’s name. Jordan unabashedly puts his hand on Lucy’s back, standing close enough to smell her perfume.

“And this is your boyfriend?” the brides’ sister asks, reaching for Jordan’s hand.

“This is Jordan,” Lucy answers. “He’s my…”

“Wardrobe consultant,” Jordan offers.

Jack and Ben keep the mood from ever being awkward. They talk to the guys about hockey, but also plenty of other things and by the end of the cocktail reception Jordan feels like anyone else’s date – not special, not un-special. Sidney handles it easily, very used to being a little on display all the time. Kim comes over carrying their place cards. Her name and Lucy’s are in beautiful calligraphy, with Jordan and Sidney’s names hastily written in underneath.

“I hope they remembered to get you chairs,” Kim says.

Jordan looks at Lucy. “We can share.”

The reception ballroom is all windows on one side, opening out onto the beach. Round tables circle a dance floor in the middle of the room, with a bar at either end. They’re at table number 11.

“Guess that means I am in charge of this table,” Jordan tells everyone. “First order of business – drinks.” A waiter brings them a pitcher of sangria, a bottle of wine and a bucket of beers. Before they’re done with the first round, Kim dashes off and the music begins to play. The DJ introduces the bridal party, and when he gets to Kim’s name, Sidney puts his fingers in his mouth and whistles deafeningly. She gives their table a little curtsey on his way by.

“Think she’s okay with this?” Sidney whispers to Lucy, seated at his left. “I don’t want her to think I’m embarrassed to be seen with her or anything. It’s just…”

“She understands. I made sure,” Lucy reassures him.

“Thanks. Now please make sure I don’t get drunk and grope her later. Because that dress makes me want to…,” he doesn’t finish because Lucy slaps him on the leg.

“Say something dirty and I will trade you in for Jordan. I can leave here right now,” she teases.

Jordan turns dramatically, his whole upper body rotating toward her. “Hey! Just for that, I’m going to grope you later. Embarrassing, sloppy, drunken groping in front of all your friends. It’s gonna look like a rap video in here. And you’re not wearing enough dress to stop me.”

Everyone stands for the bride and groom who dance to “Better Together” by Jack Johnson, then dance with their parents. When the DJ invites everyone onto the floor, Jordan already has Lucy by the hand as Frank Sinatra’s “They Way You Look Tonight” comes on.

“Having fun?” he asks. She’s wearing heels and they both smile at how much closer it brings her to his lips. How much harder it will be not spend all night kissing. The silk of her dress feels beneath his fingers is bringing up some very suggestive ideas. He twirls her out, then rolls her up his arm and into his chest.

“Thanks for coming.”

“I told you the first night I’d be your date,” he kisses her forehead. Neither of them have any idea what will happen now, if they’ll ever see each other after tonight. It’s a little scary, a lot crazy and somehow holding her still seems perfectly natural. He’s smiling even as he thinks it.

Lucy rests her chin on his shoulder. He’s perfect, she thinks. Of course she knows he’s not, really, and neither is she. Their situation is far from it. But if they were in a story, this would be it. Smart, fun and sexy as hell. That’s how I’d describe him on paper. When the song ends, the DJ speeds it up with “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas. The dance floor stays packed and Sidney and Kim turn up next to them.

“Crosby can’t dance,” Jordan whispers. Lucy pretends not to look – he’s not that bad. A little off the rhythm, a little stiff, but that could be because he’s trying to figure out how much of Kim he can touch before anyone notices. Then Sidney giggles.

“You are torturing me!” he tells Kim, who responds by shaking her ass even more. Sid gives up and settles for a slightly awkward man-dance move of shuffling his feet and kind of rocking side-to-side. “Shut up, Staal,” he says without looking at Jordan.

They dance until dinner is served, mostly for an excuse to touch each other. Friends circle in and out, Jordan and Sidney both dance with the bride, Lucy dances with Jack and Ben. A Bon Jovi song comes on and Jordan razzes Sidney about it being his favorite band. As payback, Lucy and Kim sing along at the top of their lungs. Sidney tries not to join in, but he knows all the words. He looks grateful when they’re asked to take their seats.

By the time dinner and speeches are over, they’ve all had a few drinks and even Sidney’s hands are wandering a little far from home. Jordan drapes his arm over the back of Lucy’s chair, stroking her far shoulder with his fingertips. He presses his lips to the back of her neck, making her shudder.

“Note to self: sensitive spot,” he says, doing it again.

“Stop it,” she protests weakly. “I can’t be responsible for both of us.”

He smiles wickedly and orders them a round of shots before he pours another round of drinks. “Come on kids, it’s our night off. Let’s make it count.” Lucy is tipsy-giggling by the time the music comes back on. They race out to the floor, along with everyone else their age, all on their way to alcohol-facilitated questionable decisions. Lucy slides her fingers under the knot in Jordan’s tie loosens it, then undoes the top two buttons on his shirt.

“God damn you’re sexy,” she says without blushing. He dips her low, theatrically, and she holds on for dear life as he kisses her. His outside hand slides down her back and grabs her ass, making her squeak.

Sidney carries fresh drinks right into the crowd and resumes half-dancing with Kim. His smile is a mile wide. They burn through song after song – this is definitely a party crowd. Lucy loses track of how long they’ve danced before she needs to pee. Her shoes are under the table and it’s definitely more difficult to walk in them now. She looks the same, only slightly blurry, as she fixes her hair in the mirror and adjusts her dress.

“Walk outside?” Jordan asks, waiting in the hallway. She takes his hand. The open collar and loose tie are doing her in. It’s a hint of recklessness, the promise of seeing what’s underneath… Lucy’s losing her mind to lust. She’s not the only one. They’re barely outside the door before Jordan picks her up and holds her against the wall. His hands are all over her, his tongue in her mouth and she is pawing at him. She bites his lower lip, catching it between her teeth as his fingers slide right up under her dress.

“Jesus, I thought I was going to die in there,” he says into her hair. It’s barely dusk, the sun has just set and the beach are not deserted. They’re really only 50 feet from the middle of the dance floor. She separates her mouth from his neck long enough to ask:

“Upstairs?”

They go around the front to avoid being seen, fly into the elevator and nearly kick down the door. Lucy spins around and Jordan unzips her dress and lays it over the chair. She’s left standing in a thong, bra and high heels.

“Fucking hell,” he says, halfway out of his pants. They’re on the bed before his ankles are free. He runs his hand between her thighs and she giggles.

“I’ve been wet since the ceremony,” she admits and he just groans.

They are quick and dirty – both because they’re missing the party and because Sidney and Kim will kill them if they find out. Jordan whips off her underwear and doesn’t stop as he slides his cock right inside. Lucy gurgles out a half-scream, like she’s been waiting all day to feel him. Before she can breathe he’s pumping away.

Jordan could come immediately. He’s built it up so much in his head, touching her dress and kissing her neck, that he almost came grinding her into the wall outside. Now, inside her, his body was a riot of desire and tension. She scratches her nails down his back and digs them into his ass, forcing him deeper as she pants his name. He takes her nipple in his mouth and rolls his tongue over the hard nub to distract himself.

Jordan is big, probably too big to be manhandling her like this but she doesn’t care. She wouldn’t stop him for the world. Her core is already trembling as he pounds into her, breathing heavily into her ear, whispering softly.

“God you feel so good.”

Lucy is the kind of half-drunk where you feel everything like you’ve got super-senses. She feels the hardness of his cock, but the smoothness of his skin, the rasp of his breath but the tightness of his muscles. Her body is on red alert, responding to every sensation like it’s a four-alarm fire. She holds on to his massive shoulders and begs for more.

Jordan scoops her up in his arms and sets her ass down on the corner of the desk, at perfect height for him to lean her slightly back and drive his dick into her. She puts her finger to his lips, letting him suck them into his mouth, then runs them down to tweak her clit. As soon as she touches herself, she moans.

“I’m gonna…”

“Please,” he says.

He can feel her fingertips work her hot button as his shaft disappears inside her. She twists her hips down, taking more punishment, giving him more push. Her fingers close hard around his forearm as she comes. A cry sobs out of her as she pushes hard, taking him in all the way and draining herself on the tip of his cock. Jordan comes with a grunt of his own, holding her locked in place against him. She looks up, hair falling in front of her eyes, and smiles sleepily at him.

“Back downstairs?”

“It hasn’t even been fifteen minutes, we’re good!”

They clean up quickly and help each other dress. Lucy does her best to get Jordan’s tie the way it was, but he can’t do much to fix her ruffled hair. They’re reflected in the mirror near the elevators and both burst out laughing – they look like Steve Carrel and Tina Fey in the poster for Date Night, after they’ve been running from killers and swimming in a lake.

“Yup, secret squirrel,” Lucy says, pressing the DOWN button.

They head for the bar, where a little line has built up. Lucy rests her head of Jordan’s arm and he touches her already messed up curls, thinking she looks more beautiful now than ever.

“Lucy,” he whispers, like she might have dozed off. She nods. “You’re fun.”

She whispers back, “Too bad you’re no fun at all.” That earns her a smack on the butt. They take drinks back past their empty table and out onto the floor, weaving into the crowd until they find Sid and Kim dancing with Jack and another girl.

“I told you!” Kim slaps Sid on the arm. “Totally doing it.”

Sid gives Jordan his best captain face. “Thanks a lot, assholes.”

By the end of the night they’ve had more drinks, plenty of cake and Lucy has Jordan’s tie around her forehead as if she were the Karate Kid. Sidney is looking at Kim like she’s a hot fudge sundae in the bowl of the Stanley Cup. The wedding party suggests a bar down the street, but it’s already almost midnight so they beg off with excuses of early flights and plenty of good-bye hugs. Soon they’re the only people left outside the ballroom.

“Leaving here at 10,” Sidney says. He’s pretty sober, if only to keep his hands to himself. Now that time is clearly over and he’s flexing his fingers in anticipation. Lucy gives Kim a wide-eyed look, but Kim just licks her lips. Sid puts Kim in the elevator, waits ten seconds then runs up the stairs two at a time.

Lucy and Jordan stand like a couple, pressed together and exhausted, in the hotel lobby. She’s barefoot with heels in her hand, his coat is tossed over one shoulder. Someone opens the door to the beach and cool, gentle breeze wafts through the lobby.

“Real walk on the beach this time?”

The beach is so wide it takes five whole minutes to reach the water. The cold wet sand feels like heaven on Lucy’s sore feet so Jordan rolls up his pants and joins her in the surf. They walk along under a bright moon.

“So, what are you doing next weekend?” he slows to a stop. He looks like the Abercrombie and Fitch ad she’d thought of the first night in the hallway. Jordan in a destroyed suit, looking for all the world like he’d just fucked someone senseless and was fully capable of doing it again immediately. Pants rolled up, collar open, tie undone….

“No plans.” She wants to scream. Or cry. Or lick his face.

“Want to make some?” he asks simply. It could have been the sex talking last time he mentioned a visit. Heat of the moment and guys say all kinds of stuff. But now, he’s serious. Jordan could not have told you why he thought this could work, in fact twenty reasons to the contrary float in his head. But he isn’t the kind of guy to give up without trying. “It doesn’t have to be serious, Luce. It can be fun, like this. You’re fun. Come visit me.”

Come to Pittsburgh, Jordan repeats in his head. The wind twists her curls around her shoulders and face, it lifts the outer layer of her dress like it’s wet paint smearing across the beach. Her arms and legs and neck are a mile of bare skin and he wants to kiss every inch of it. Even more, he wants her there to laugh and make him laugh. He can never get enough of that.

“I’ll come,” she says. “On one condition: no pants. All weekend.”

He picks her up under his arm like a football, stomping back toward the hotel. “Yes drill sergeant!”
____

They crawl into bed naked, the air conditioning cranked so they need to snuggle under the comforter. Jordan’s arm is under her, Lucy’s head on his shoulder and one leg over his thigh. She tilts her face up and smiles at him.

“Night, Jordan,” she says.

He clicks off the light, “Night Lucy.”

In the dark, she thinks next weekend cannot come soon enough. Some one night stand this turned out to be. Even so, it has the air of a fling, of no pressure and lots of fun, of sex and danger and excitement. If one more weekend is all they get, she’ll consider herself lucky to sleep wrapped up in someone who swept her off her feet, even for a little while.

Jordan rolls closer to her, tucking her head beneath his chin and falls asleep thinking: What am I doing the weekend after next?
